What
a great facility! It gives my family & I a lot of comfort
knowing that my Dad is not living all alone, but rather in a
friendly safe environment. I believe it also creates a
surrounding and quality of life that far exceeds living
isolated with chores piling up all around. The common areas of
the building provide the avenues by which so many positives
can be added to one's lifestyle - actually putting a little
shine on some of the "Golden Years"."

"Dad
came to the Barton just after the doors opened and hasn't
regretted his move for a moment. Making a lifestyle change is
very stressful and the staff is always on had to lend support.
For my brother and me it has been comforting to know that Dad
had 24 hour support and three great meals a day. Outings and
activities are planned and if they wish to participate or ust
have the quiet of their room. When the family comes to visit
there is always tea, coffee and snacks available for residents
or visitors. We know that Dad will never be alone if he is not
feeling well, someone will be there to watch over him. It's
really nice to be able to pop over and have tea now that he is
closer."Lavern Pollack |

"Joyce
was feeling so tired. Household chores were becoming very
difficult. When Jack had a stroke we knew we had to make a
move. The Barton meets all our requirements. We only wish we
had made the move sooner! We enjoy our days now. We have
energy to socialize and participate in activities that we were
unable to do before."

Bayview Retirement
Home, Belleville, Ontario
On Monday, 14 April, 2003, my Father, Ross
"Tiny" Davis, passed away suddenly at the Belleville General Hospital, the
victim of an aneurism we were unaware he had. He was 87, but in remarkably good
health for an 87-year old. He had collapsed around 3 am, was rushed to the
hospital, but passed away around 8:30 that morning.
Dad and my
Step-Mother, Connie, had been residents at your Retirement Residence in
Belleville for the past three years. During that time, they had met everyone
and had become good friends with many of the staff and residents. The staff all
enjoyed his good sense of humour and care and concern he showed for others, and
everyone was truly saddened by his unexpected death
It was an extremely
difficult time, especially for my Step-Mother Connie. Dad and Connie were very
close during their 25 years of marriage, and frequently still acted like
newlyweds even though both were into their late 80's.
My purpose for
setting the stage with all this background was to single out your Belleville
Home Administrator, Pat Tooze and her entire staff at the residence for the
sensitive, caring way we were all treated. Upon my arrival, I was offered a
room to stay where I could be close to Connie to provide much needed support to
grieve together and handle all the administrative arrangements necessary. Pat
arranged to have meals brought to the Davis' suite where we could be alone to
conduct our affairs privately and avoid the numerous expressions of grief
which, while very well-meaning, can be somewhat overbearing when people are in
shock and grieving. We were afforded the utmost courtesy and were looked after
with genuine caring family concern during our ordeal.
On behalf of my
Step-Mother Connie, her son Doug Chambers, myself, and other close family
members, I want to thank Pat and her staff for their sensitive treatment and
extreme kindness shown us all at our time of sorrow. I will be writing a short
note to Pat to personally thank her. I expect your Company personnel selection
process stresses, among other qualifications, finding truly caring people. You
have chosen well at Trenton!

Atrium Villa,
Hamilton, Ontario
Dear Mr. Ezer
In an age when mediocrity tends
to be the norm, I feel compelled to share my thoughts regarding our experiences
with the Atrium Villa, a retirement home, in Hamilton, Ontario. My Mother, Lois
Guy, experienced kidney failure in the fall of 1999. She had lived
independently for 55 years in the same house on the Hamilton Mountain having
been predeceased by my Father in 1956. Her discharge from St. Joseph's Hospital
and enrollment for dialysis treatment every other day was conditional on her
having assisted care living accommodations. This was a major adjustment for
her; she was friendly but guardedly private and not one to readily accept
communal living and we were very concerned for her adjusting to such a profound
change. My family and I had conducted personal audits of the 8 ORCA registered
retirement homes in the area; the Atrium Villa was the last on our list.
The bright spacious entrance of the Atrium with gorgeous rich plants
and flowers was immediately inviting. We met Margaret Coulter and I was struck
with a feeling of someone who knew our circumstances exactly; someone with a
good business sense, solid background in nursing and a genuine empathy for
older people. Hearing our concerns she suggested that she visit Mother in
hospital prior to her discharge and perhaps then consider a trial "visit" to
see if things "clicked". To say things "clicked" would be a gross
understatement. Mother passed away July 29/02 at the Atrium and I can honestly
say these were some of the most happy and comfortable days of her life. The
quality meals, caring room attendants and nursing staff, the social programs,
special parties makes the lives of many of the residents richer than they could
ever imagine. Margaret truly cares for older people and her style is indelibly
apparent throughout this facility. When I discussed admitting Mother to the
hospital during her final days where we were assured they would "hug her a
lot"; Margaret immediately voiced disapproval and suggested that she stay in
her room at the Atrium where she would be "hugged even more".
If you
have more "Margaret's" on your TEAM; you are indeed fortunate. The Atrium Villa
should be the flagship of your organization. My family and I feel truly blessed
to have experienced this caring community. Feel free to share this with others
as you see fit.
Yours truly, Douglas Guy & Family |

The Barrington
Retirement Home
For the last 18 months my mother has been in residence
at the Barrington under the care of Lynn Camuso and her staff. Unfortunately,
mother's cognitive abilities have deteriorated to the extent where it was
necessary that she leave.
I write to let you know how appreciative all
of our family have been for the consistently high quality of professional
assistance provided by Mrs. Camuso, Norene Pauze and the rest of the Barrington
staff. Mother was, from the outset, welcomed to a warm, friendly environment.
Opportunities for the residents' social interaction and the high quality of
meals together with consistently interesting programs made for a quality
experience in living.
I want to congratulate you and your organization
for the excellence in caring exhibited by Mrs. Camuso and her staff. Thank you.
Yours truly, Justice R. M. |

Maple Court Villa
I wish to express my appreciation for the high level of care afforded
my mother.
From the day I walked in, I knew the place was ideal; super
clean, happy faces; pleasant surroundings (and a nearby hospital!). Under your
management, things got even better!
During the 25 months my mother
lived there, she had nothing but praise for the staff ... all of the staff. Not
once did I hear a critical word about any one (and my mother was quite capable
of saying her piece if she thought she was wronged). Mom also enjoyed the
friendship of the other residents ....
Yours truly,

Oxford Manor Staff:
Just a quick note to thank you again for the lovely Father's Day
dinner. You make each Resident feel "special".
I am sure you don't hear
(it) too much but I know that the Residents do appreciate all the everyday and
special things that you do for them.
Dinner was special and very
enjoyable ....

Why I chose Anne
Hathaway Residence I had been alone for nearly five years after the death of my
wife. I began to do a survey of the various Retirement Homes and guess what?!!!
... Anne Hathaway Residence came in Number 1 in my books. Because:
- The Administrator and
Management Team
- The miracle workers
disguised as the dietary and care staff
- My friends can come and play
a game of cards in the card room
All in all I do enjoy it
here and I do believe that I have made many friends! Yours Sincerely,
G.B. |

Oxford Manor,
Ingersoll, Ontario
Greetings Diane Please convey my sincere thanks to
the staff at Oxford Manor.
The improvement in my mother's condition
since she was admitted in March is nothing short of miraculous.
What
could have been a difficult transition has been surprisingly easy. Mom has
spoken with nothing but praise about every person that has provided support to
her and continues to be impressed with the attitude and kindness that is
displayed in spite of what must be busy work routines.
The facility
itself is beautifully maintained, the activities are plentiful and the meals
are excellent. When you can please my mother with food, you are doing well as
she has always been a picky eater.
As a family we feel a great sense of
joy knowing that Mom is in such caring hands. A sincere thank you to one and
all.
